Beaches
The house is convenient to many public beaches of different types. There is something for everyone,
whether you seek freshwater ponds, warm tidepools, or big waves.
Barnstable Beaches
Barnstable has 6 beaches open to non-residents. The three best are:
Craigville Beach, about 15 minutes away on the south side of the Cape. The beach is long and popular.
Since it is on the Nantucket Sound side of the Cape, the water is warmer than on the Northside beaches.
Sandy Neck Beach, on the north side, about 5 minutes drive up Route 6A from the house.
Hathaway's Pond, a freshwater pond about a 10 minute drive away.
All have bathhouses and lifeguards (9 AM - 5 PM). Parking is $10/day (except
$5/day at Hathaway's pond). A weekly (7-day) parking permit is available at the Kennedy Rink in Hyannis for $40. Visit
www.barnstablecapecod.com for details about Barnstable's beaches.

Other Beaches
Dennis Beach is a long, gently sloping beach perfect for wading,
basking, and sandcastles. Tidepools appear and disappear as the tide goes in and out. It is on the north side,
about a 20 minute drive up Route 6A in the Town of Dennis.
The Cape Cod National Seashore includes Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach on the Atlantic side of
the Cape, both of which have good waves. Both are about a 40 minute drive down Route 6. For an oversized map of
the entire park, click here.
